Motorcyclist recovering following Friday injury

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

A Cloverdale man was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital following a Friday-evening motorcycle crash on the DePauw University campus.

According to a DePauw Police report, 40-year-old Christopher Wallace was northbound on College Avenue approaching the T-intersection at Hannah Street at 11:40 p.m.

Capt. Rick Keller told the Banner Graphic that Wallace failed to stop or even observe that College Avenue came to an end, instead hitting the curb, which threw him from the bike.

Wallace was initially taken to Putnam County Hospital by Putnam County Operation Life, but was later airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

Keller reported that while Wallace’s injuries were serious, at last report he was doing better.

DePauw Police were assisted at the scene by officers from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Greencastle City Police and an accident reconstructionist from the Indiana State Police.

The Greencastle Fire Department also helped with the patient and cleanup at the scene.
