City Police

Greencastle Police officers made one recent arrest.

• On Thursday evening, Edward William Julian, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody by officer Alec Pettit.

According to information gathered by Officer Pettit, Julian had bought a jersey from his neighbors at a Maple Avenue residence.

When he found that the jersey was not authentic, as he believed, Julian went to the residence to confront them.

Finding the neighbors not home, he reportedly urinated on their garage, poured oil on a vehicle and stole cigarettes from the porch.

At 8:32 p.m. he was booked in the Putnam County Jail on preliminary charges of theft, public intoxication and public nudity.

City officers also issued three recent citations.

• At 12:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Reserve Officer Damon Ludwig stopped Brian Harsanyi, 34, Danville, on Fillmore Road.

Harsanyi was cited for traveling 56 mph in a 30 mph zone.

• At 12:46 p.m. on Tuesday, Capt. Chris Jones stopped Elizabeth Beasley, 27, Greencastle, on East Franklin Street.

Beasley was cited for driving without ever receiving a license.

• At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Officer Luke Brown stopped Drew Evens, 29, Greencastle, on Berry Street near Locust Street.

Evens was cited for possession of marijuana.

County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Friday

• At 1:15 a.m. Ross Ronald Cravens, 55, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

• At 1:04 a.m. Chris Lee Hasselburg, 38, Bainbridge, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

Thursday

• At 9:56 p.m. Charles Henry Gilbow, 39, Lizella, Ga., was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated-refusal.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two recent dispatches:

• At 8:22 p.m. on Thursday, GFD received a call that a homeowner was pouring gas on a fire at 1115 Albin Pond Rd. Firefighters arrived at the residence at 8:28 and found no gas, but that the homeowner was burning yard waste. As the home was located in county territory, the homeowner was not required to extinguish the fire. However, GFD advised that it be contacted when such fires are started. GFD returned to station at 8:35 p.m.

• At 5:21 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:28 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 5:38 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists during this time.
