William Richard 'Bill' Higgenbotham

William Richard “Bill” Higgenbotham, 72, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.

He was born March 17, 1947 in Mattoon, IL, the son of William and Marjorie Mary (Mettendorf) Higgenbotham, and was a 1965 graduate of Neoga High School.

Bill had worked at Kroger for 31 years, retiring in 2007.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid mushroom hunter, fisherman and a “CSI” and mystery show watcher. He loved doing word search puzzles and enjoyed working in his yard.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn “Jacque” (Murray) Higgenbotham; his children, Brian (Melissa) Higgenbotham, Terry Higgenbotham and Lori Higgenbotham; sister, Sue (Jimmy) White; grandchildren, James Stephens III, Brooklyn (James) Snyder, Mackenzie Higgenbotham, Macey Higgenbotham and Elizabeth Logan; great-grandson, Eli Snyder; mother-in-law, Rosanna Goodwin; brother-in-law, Doug Miller; and sister-in-law, Vickie Holecz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Miller; and a grandson, Matthew Higgenbotham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
