County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 3:15 a.m. Angela Rae Higgins, 51, Rockville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Monday

• At 9:04 p.m. Penny Ann Thomas, 54, Indianapolis, was booked in for battery with injury.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to nine recent dispatches:

• At 3:24 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident without injuries at McDonald’s. Units arrived at the scene at 3:33 and cleaned debris from the road. GFD returned to station at 3:54 p.m.

• At 3:13 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to clean up a small fuel spill at the Marathon gas station. Units arrived at about 3:15 and used to oil absorbent to clean up the scene. GFD returned to station at 3:35 p.m.

• At 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to remove a tree limb in the roadway at 119 N. 22 East. Units arrived there at 9:23 and removed the tree limb. GFD returned to station at 9:27 p.m.

• GFD responded to two consecutive alarms at 330 Greenwood Ave. Monday morning:

• At 1:38 a.m., GFD responded to a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:44 but could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 1:57 a.m.

• At 4:38 a.m., GFD responded to another fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:45 and determined that the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 5:03 a.m.

• At 1:52 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a mutual aid call for a small barn fire at 322 N. CR 500 West. GFD arrived at the scene at 2:07 p.m. and assisted the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department with extinguishing the fire. GFD returned to station at 3:35 p.m.

• At 4:32 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 101 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:37 and determined that the alarm was faulty due to water flow. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 4:50 p.m.

• At 6:16 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a vehicle fire in the Kroger parking lot. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find that the fire was already out, and then unhooked the car’s battery. GFD went back into service at 6:44 p.m.

• At 6:42 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 701 E. Seminary St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:46 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:53 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed nine medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
