Waiting for the showmanship portion of the Putnam County 4-H Fair Dairy Show to begin, Andrea Nees and her Holstein “Bubba” wait in a thin sliver of shade beside the Indoor Arena Sunday afternoon. The steer was also named the reserve champion Holstein. Some extra care and precautions on the part of 4-H members and volunteers kept animals safe through extreme heat on the first three days of the fair. The heat wave broke Sunday night, leaving the remainder of fair week with more manageable projected highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
