CRAWFORDSVILLE — A fight inside a residence Friday night led to the death of one Crawfordsville man and to the arrest of another.

Scott Nichols, 49, was charged with a preliminary count of reckless homicide after allegedly killing Chris Hodges, 46, inside his home on Whitlock Avenue.

At 9:21 p.m. Friday, two Crawfordsville police officers were flagged down by Nichols who was standing in the middle of the street waving his arms.

He told the officers he had been in a fight with Hodges inside his home and he said he had choked him and then added “I think I may have killed him.”

Officers went to the home and found Hodges deceased.

Nichols was taken to the hospital and treated for a bump to the head. Upon release, he was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He was preliminarily charged with reckless homicide.

No one else is believed to have been at the residence at the time of the incident.

The investigation of the case is ongoing.
