What happens when a bunch of fairy tale characters end up wandering through the same forest getting tangled up in one another’s stories?

It can result in a bit of a sticky situation.

On Tuesday, Putnam County Comprehensive Services will present the comedy “Mother Duck and the Golden Goose” onstage at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Ct.

The 6:30 p.m. event is free of charge, though donations for the GCC food pantry will be accepted.

The cast of more than a dozen PCCS clients has been hard at work for two months preparing for the big night

“I just thought it would be a fun thing and a good thing to do a play for the people at Comprehensive Services,” director Anita Gambill said. “So we opened up auditions to everybody there. They had the opportunity to sign up to audition. Basically everybody who wanted to be in it, we got a part for them.”

There should be plenty of laughs to be had as the various fairy tale characters find themselves connected in ways they didn’t know were possible.

“It’s a comedy. It’s a fractured fairy tale kind of thing,” Gambill said. “The characters all end up communicating with each other and then getting stuck together, one-by-one, through the magic of the Golden Goose.”

Gambill said she has been happy to be a part of it as the PCCS clients find opportunities for growth through this opportunity.

“We have people with varying strengths and varying challenges as far as disabilities are concerned,” Gambill said. “It’s just been really exciting to see them grow. They’re doing a great job. I’m really proud of what they’re able to do right now.

“But the best part is that they’re having so much fun,” she added. “When I watch them in rehearsals, there’s just joy. To me, that’s what it’s all about is to see their faces and see them having so much fun. Everybody is doing the best job they can and I’m just excited to see it all come together.”

Everyone from the public is invited to support Putnam County Comprehensive Services in this endeavor.

“I know it’s going to be great,” Gambill said.
