County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 12:40 a.m. Scott Robert Wathen, 37, North Salem, was lodged at the jail for intimidation, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Monday

• At 9:33 p.m. James Duane Flowers, 36, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.

City Police

Greencastle Police officers issued three recent citations.

• At 8:06 p.m. on Monday, Mark Thistlethwait, 50, Rockville was ticketed by Officer Luke Brown.

Stopped on 5th Street near Indianapolis Road, Thistlethwait was cited for disregarding a stop sign.

• At 2:45 p.m. on July 24, Julio Poblera, 31, Greencastle, was ticketed by Sgt. Ed Wilson.

Stopped at Putnam Plaza, Poblera was cited for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility.

• At 11:49 p.m. on July 20, Terra York, 20, Greencastle was ticketed by Officer Brown.

Stopped on State Road 240 near Capital Drive, York was cited for traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 6:28 a.m. on Monday, Sean J. Thomas, 37, Rockville, was eastbound on County Road 300 North in a 2019 Dodge Nitro when he hit a deer.

Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 10:21 p.m. on Sunday, Heather M. Clodfelter, 36, New Palestine, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2008 Hyundai Accent when she hit a deer.

The collision launched the animal into the eastbound lane, where it was again hit by a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Jace A. Wilson, 45, Lizton.

Wilson’s vehicle was towed. Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 4:25 p.m. on Friday, Philisha G. Sanders, 19, Cloverdale, was northbound on County Road 75 West in a 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse when she met a southbound vehicle in her lane.

To avoid a collision, Sanders steered off the road and into the ditch, where she hit a mailbox at 8167 S. CR 75 West. She told Sheriff Scott Stockton she hit the mailbox again as she backed out of the ditch.

The other driver fled the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.
