Parkersburg Christian Church will be celebrating its 150th anniversary the weekend of Aug. 9-11.

On Friday evening at 7 p.m., there will be a celebration of music with specials by Rusty and Sallie Hester, the Hetrick family and the PCC choir. Hal Marshall will be playing the piano, and there will be a special message given by former PCC pastor Mark Wager.

The celebration will continue with the annual church picnic on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Clodfelter’s Pond at noon. Hot dogs, buns, drinks and tableware will be furnished. Everyone attending should bring a side dish and lawn chair. Swimming and fishing will be available.

On Sunday, Aug. 11, former pastor Ron Hanson will be giving the morning message. Worship begins at 10 a.m. with music specials by the Cloncs family and Vania Long Starr. Bernice Stewart Wilson will be playing the piano.

There will be a pitch-in dinner immediately following the worship service, with everyone encouraged to bring a favorite dish.

A great deal of history, memories and special people have passed through Parkersburg Christian Church. It began with land being deeded to the trustees by Joseph and Elizabeth J. Grimes on July 2, 1869, and continues today with Pastor Rich Fuller and his wife, Dodie.
