Robert Dale Clover, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at Asbury Towers.

Robert was born on April 23, 1933 in Pierceton to Doyle and Helen (Gates) Clover.

He grew up in Kosciusko County and later moved with his family to Putnam County, where his father was employed as a dairyman at the Indiana State Farm.

He attended Greencastle Schools and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He spent 18 months in Germany, returning home following his discharge in 1955.

He was first employed at Lone Star Cement Company until his induction into the Army. Upon his return, he was employed for 31 years at IBM Corporation, retiring when the facility closed in 1987.

Robert did not hold memberships in any organization, even though he was very much “a people person” who enjoyed his fellow men.

He attended Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church with his wife Pat, and he made many friends there whom he dearly enjoyed.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia (Meek) Clover, brother James and sister Janice Clover Butler.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Hayes, and her husband James of Mukwonago, Wis.; a brother, Stanley, of Greencastle; and many dear friends.

Robert was a true “homebody” who thoroughly enjoyed “just being at home,” where he and Pat were so blessed to have so many little cats over many years and he was “No. 1” as far as they were concerned.

Robert’s family has chosen to have calling hours at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Interment, with military services, will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
