Greencastle Youth Softball Association is looking for volunteers and participants for the upcoming Aug. 10 GYSA Outdoor Triathlon.

The sprint triathlon event will require participants to complete one of two following:

• Purple sprint: Swim 200 meters, bike four miles, run one mile; or

• Silver sprint: Swim 400 meters, bike eight miles, run two miles.

Nutrition will be provided at the end of the race. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt as well as prizes.

The event is open to children ages 8-14 and teens age 15 through adults. Cost is $20 per person.

The races will begin with swimming at Robe-Ann Park with biking through Greencastle neighborhoods to Big Walnut Sports Park and back.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. with events at 8 a.m.

Volunteers will help with directing triathlon participants as well as other tasks. It starts at 7 a.m. and will end around 10 a.m.

Call Becky Hunsinger at 317-358-5939 to volunteer or go to GreencastleYouthSoftball.com to register.

This is a major fundraiser for Greencastle Youth Softball as well an opportunity to provide community outreach through health and wellness. Last year’s event had 50 participants and organizers hope to have more this year.
