To the Editor:

On Wednesday, July 31, Putnam County Special Olympics held a recognition picnic at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle for the athletes and coaches who have successfully competed in year-round athletic trainings and competitions across the state.

This special event was made possible with the help of several local businesses and organizations.

The board of directors of Putnam County Special Olympics would like to recognize and thank these groups for making this special evening possible.

First of all, we would like to thank the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department for donating the bandshell area for us to hold the event. We would also like to thank Myers’ Market for donating all the hot dogs and Walmart for its support with the donation of a gift card for other food items.

Lastly, we would like to thank Putnam County Comprehensive Services for providing the paper goods and other miscellaneous items.

All the athletes and coaches had a wonderful time celebrating their participation in sports and leisure activities that included basketball, bocce, bowling, cornhole, flag football, horseshoes, powerlifting, skiing, softball, swimming, track and volleyball.

Again, many, many thanks to these wonderful sponsors.
