Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes

• At 6 p.m. Friday, Janaye Ellis, 30, Cloverdale, was eastbound on County Road 825 East near County Road 700 South in a 2011 Kia Sportage when she hit a deer.

The car was towed from the scene. Deputy Kyle Lee estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 12:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, Sonny L. Hickey, 59, Joelton, Tenn., was southbound on U.S. 231 just south of Interstate 70 in a 2015 International ProStar semi tractor registered to Celadon Trucking Services, Indianapolis.

Hickey was traveling in the left lane and did not realize it became a turn lane for County Road 900 South. He told Deputy Brian Helmer he checked the right lane and did not see another vehicle.

However, William P. Mancuso, 69, Reelsville, was beside the tractor-trailer in a 2010 BMW 335i. As Hickey merged right, his right front wheel hit the driver’s side fender and front door of Mancuso’s car.

Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Mancuso complained of neck pain and was checked out by Putnam County Operation Life.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
