Angry Skies

Tuesday, August 20, 2019
Coming off of the storm that rolled through Sunday evening, heavy rainfall struck Putnam County once again early Tuesday afternoon. However, this one came with very strong wind gusts that brought down several trees and power lines in the area. Emergency personnel secure one such scene near where Indiana Street and Shadowlawn Avenue meet as part of a large tree is suspended precariously over the roadway.

Nearby, city employees work to clear pooling at the intersection of Moore Court and Shadowlawn Avenue as traffic wades through. City police officers, the Greencastle Fire Department and workers from the Department of Public Works were called out on multiple dispatches for flooding and trees down during the downpour, though no injuries were reported. According to the Greencastle Middle School weather station, .92 inches of rain had fallen as of Tuesday evening.
