County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 12:19 a.m. Wesley Nathan January, 28, Fillmore, was booked in on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 5:01 p.m. Megan Lynn Gaskin, 24, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for false informing.

• At 11:45 a.m. Jeramiah Laman Reed, 32, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 8:19 a.m. Tammy Lee Jones, 38, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 11:25 a.m. Datrevian Javonte Holder, 24, Indianapolis, was booked in for failure to appear.

• At 10:01 a.m. Mallory Aileen Campbell-Norris, 35, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

Indiana State Police

Indiana State troopers made one recent arrest in Putnam County.

• On Wednesday night, Trooper Kyle Hall arrested 52-year-old Bobby Joe Hood of Bainbridge.

Stopped at U.S. 36 and U.S. 231, Hood refused to submit to a chemical test. He was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 12:52 a.m. Thursday for driving while intoxicated-refusal and driving while intoxicated.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Athena M. Powell, 18, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse when a deer ran into her path.

Powell told Deputy Robert Soilleux she braked and swerved to avoid the animal and ran off the road and into the ditch. She did not hit the deer.

She complained of pain from the seat belt and neck pain. Powell was treated at the scene by Operation Life and signed a statement of release.

Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:

• At 11:12 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 301 E. Seminary St. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:14 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 11:18 a.m.

• At 2:09 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD received a call for tree down in power lines at 560 N. Jackson St. GFD went out but did not find the tree or downed power lines at this address. GFD went back into service at 2:14 p.m.

• At 2:14 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was called to 517 N. Indiana St. for power lines down. GFD arrived at this address to find that a tree had fallen into power lines. Duke Energy was called to the scene, and GFD went back into service at 3:06 p.m.

• At 3:52 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 560 N. C.R. 100 E. for power lines down. Units arrived at 4 p.m. and confirmed that power lines were down at the address. GFD secured the scene and Duke Energy was called. GFD went back into service at 3:57 p.m.

• At 4:01 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. for an alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:03 but found that no alarm was present. GFD left at 4:07 p.m.

• At 4:31 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 1207 S. Bloomington St. for an electrical issue. Units arrived at 4:33 and were advised that an electrical outlet had been overloaded and a breaker had been tripped. It was recommended that the outlet not be used until maintenance fixed the issue. GFD returned to station at 4:43 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
