Charles Leroy Highsmith

Charles Leroy Highsmith, 72, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019.

Born Jan. 30,1947 in Greencastle, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Maxine (O'Conner) Highsmith.

He married Rita (Sargent) Highsmith on Dec. 26, 2004 and she survives.

Charlie was a mechanic until he retired. He was a Vietnam veteran. His hobbies included playing solitaire on the computer and tinkering around in his shed.

Before moving out of Putnam County, he was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Highsmith; daughter Amanda Highsmith and stepson Timothy (Annber) Ruble; sister Bernnetta Williams; three granddaughters, Savanah, Annabelle and Daisia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rowena Whitaker and brother-in-law David Williams.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene, 580 S. CR 100 East, Greencastle.
