National Night Out organizers thank contributors

Monday, September 2, 2019

To the editor:

On behalf of the National Night Out committee, we wish to thank everyone that attended our annual event.

This year’s attendance was significantly lower due to so many school activities scheduled. In an effort to be more accommodating, the committee is actively searching for an alternative date.

As always, hot dogs, pizza, snow cones, apples, popcorn and drinks were free for everyone in attendance.

This event, however, could not continue without the support of so many wonderful community sponsorships.

We are genuinely grateful for the sincere and generous contributions of the following: Flowers Baking Co., Casey’s of Roachdale, the Putnam County Hospital, Casey’s of Greencastle, Chicago’s Pizza, Noble Roman’s Pizza, Monical’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Putnam County Culligan Water, Teachers Credit Union, Children’s Bureau (community partners), Duke Energy, York GMC/Buick Automotive, Rachel Davies of KBSO Consulting, Kroger, First Financial Bank, Kevin Girton, Butler’s LP and Fertilizer, Big Bounce Fun House, John Garl Bikes, Action Club of Comprehensive Services, Greencastle Parks and Recreation and Aquatic Center, Stat Flight and United Way of Putnam County.

Annually, over thirty community organizations donate their time and energy in support of this powerful outreach and our mission of keeping Putnam County’s children safe and healthy. A special thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers; you are the greatest!

A special “thank you” to our National Night Out Knight (we always appreciate your appearance), James Hardwick and his wonderful service as “DJ” and to Elizabeth Butts of Family Support Services for securing raffle prizes from the following: the Indianapolis Indians, Sky Zone, the Putnam County Public Library, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Greencastle Parks and Aquatic Center, Stat Flight and Plaza Lanes.

A big “thanks” goes to the staff of Robe-Ann Park for their hard work, and to Robert Tomaw and his students from Res-Care for their commitment in eagerly helping to set up and tear down once the event was over. Thank you; we are grateful for your hard work.

Words cannot begin to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the committee who willingly volunteered their time and energy: Christy Benge, Kerry James, Sonny Stoltz, Jessie Jackman, Rod Weinschenk, David Bault, Jeff Mace, Ruth Myers, Cierra Wilson, Elizabeth Butts, Laura Monnett, Michelle Boller, Kim McMains, Karen Martoglio, Renee Marsteller, Patti Harmless, Allison Creekmore-Long, Brian Hopkins and Kyle Gibbons.

We are convinced this annual event is a night for the Putnam County community to stand together to promote drug and alcohol awareness, safety and unity. National Night Out highlights the fundamental importance of police partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer community.

We hope to see you in 2020!
