Local piano students compete at the Indiana State Fair

Four piano students of Cheryl Beck competed in the 2019 Indiana State Fair Young Hoosier Pianist Competition.

Jacy Huffman competed on Aug. 3 in the classical and non-classical categories in the Mid-Teen Division.

Andrea Whitesell competed on Aug. 17 in the Collegiate Division, winning the first-place award in the non-classical category.

Ashley and Allie Whitesell competed on Aug. 25 in the Senior Teen Division of the ensemble category, also winning the first-place award.

These students were among the more than 500 students ages 5-22 who participated in the preliminary rounds conducted at Carmel, Crawfordsville and West Lafayette. The Final Competition took place on the top floor of the Indiana Arts Building on the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The event is sponsored by Piano Solutions of Carmel.
