Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Manjit Singh, 59, Plainfield, was eastbound on State Road 240 attempting to turn north onto Fillmore Road in a 2019 Honda Accord. Diana S. Meo, 52, Greencastle, was southbound on Fillmore Road, attempting to turn onto eastbound 240 in a 2015 Nissan Altima.

Deputy Kyle Lee reported that as Singh made his turn, Meo accelerated and hit the back driver’s side door area of his vehicle.

Lee estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 4:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Jack A. Wynkoop, 20, Brownsburg, was westbound on U.S. 40 in Putnamville approaching the intersection with State Road 243 in a 2005 Pontiac G6. Richard J. Briones, 37, Greencastle, was also westbound, attempting to turn left onto 243 in a 2012 Honda Civic.

Wynkoop told Deputy Robert Soilleux the glare of the sun was in his eyes so he did not notice that Briones had slowed to turn left. Briones reported that as he prepared to turn, he was rear-ended.

Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Victoria N. Huff, 17, Greencastle, was southbound in the South Putnam High School parking lot in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Tara M. Thompson, 36, Indianapolis was westbound in the parking lot in a 2013 Ford Fiesta.

As the two vehicles traveled in crossing directions, their views were obstructed, with Huff’s car striking the passenger side of Thompson’s.

Deputy Matt Biggs said it appears that traffic on the lot should be traveling northbound or southbound, but there are different color markings that could lead to confusion.

Biggs estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
