Richard Dale Sutherlin

Richard Dale Sutherlin, 91 of Acworth, Ga., passed away at home on Saturday, Sept., 21, 2019.

Richard was born on Aug., 17, 1928 near Groveland to James Earl and Viola Jo (Timmons) Sutherlin.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School in 1946 and attended Purdue for one year and was a lifelong fan of Purdue.

He married Evelyn Jane (McBride) in 1947. She preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2016.

Richard farmed in Putnam County before working in ag sales in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana until  he retired. After retiring, Richard and Evelyn moved to Acworth, Ga. 

He is survived by three children, Sharon Ellis of Acworth, Beth Woodard of Indianapoiis and Richard Jr. (Mercy) of Three Rivers, Mich.; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Waddell of Greenwood.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Jeanette Toney, Mildred Sitler and Betty Carpenter; brothers James, Elvin, Julian, Harry, Joseph and William; and two sons-in-law, Bob Ellis and Don Woodard.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27 from 5-8 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made  to Bainbridge High School Scholarship Fund c/o Putnam County Foundation, Greencastle.
