Legion ride will honor Al Paetow

Tuesday, September 24, 2019

To honor the memory of a man and benefit his family, the Greencastle American Legion will sponsor a charity ride on Saturday, Sept. 28.

American Legion Post 58, the Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and Legion Riders are sponsoring the inaugural Al’s Ride, a charity event memorializing Al Paetow, who lost his battle with lung cancer only five weeks after his diagnosis.

Al’s Ride will begin with a balloon release at the American Legion and visit several Putnam, Clay, Parke and Owen county locations, including a picnic lunch at Shelter 2 at Cecil M. Hardin Lake before concluding back at the American Legion with a silent auction, 50/50 raffle as well as dinner and door prizes.

This year the ride’s proceeds will benefit Al Paetow’s family, with future rides to be held for other local families of cancer patients. Charity for others in need was a priority to the Paetow family.
