County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Monday.

• At 10:34 p.m. Travis Harold Tomey, 31, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 7:23 p.m. Jonathon Paul Franck, 29, Martinsville, was booked in on an Owen County warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Tom Stonebraker, 57, Reelsville, was stopped northbound on County Road 375 West in a 2011 Subaru Outback. He was waiting to turn left and for southbound traffic to clear.

Glen C. Gill, 55, Greencastle, was also northbound on 375 West in a 2003 GMC Envoy, coming out of S-curves. Due to the position of the sun, he could not see Stonebraker’s vehicle and rear-ended him as he was stopped.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. Gill’s car was towed.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to eight recent dispatches:

• At 11:22 a.m. on Friday, GFD was called to the intersection of County Road 350 North and County Road 400 West to assist the Bainbridge Community Volunteer Fire Department with a mobile home fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:36 and helped extinguish the fire. GFD went back into service at 12:58 p.m.

• At 6:12 p.m. on Friday, GFD was called to 502 Maple Ave. for what was a malfunctioning smoke detector. Units arrived at 6:18 and replaced the detector’s batteries. GFD went back into service at 6:48 p.m.

• At 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 406 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:07 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:12 p.m.

• At 11:03 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 27 Putnam Plaza for what was a leaky sprinkler system. Units arrived at 11:08 but could not fix the issue. The owners were advised to contact the alarm company to fix the alarm system. GFD wet back into service at 11:27 a.m.

• At 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:13 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 2:20 p.m.

• At 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Frankie’s Auto Care at 1270 N. Jackson St. for a reported illegal burn. Firefighters arrived there at 2:18 but were unable to located the burn. GFD went back into service at 2:20 p.m.

• At 2:53 p.m. on Sunday, GFD returned to 27 Putnam Plaza for a water issue. Units arrived at Shoe Sensation at 2:57 and found that the alarm was not sounding, and that the flow alarm was working. GFD went back into service at 3:21 p.m.

• At 5:48 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the Putnam County Hospital for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:52 but found that this was a false alarm. Hospital staff reset the alarm. GFD went back into service at 6:01 a.m.

Additionally, GFD had two disregards during this time.
