Rollover shuts down section of SR 240

An accident involving two vehicles had State Road 240 shut down just outside Greencastle Friday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m., emergency personnel were sent out for a rollover near the Putnam County Animal Shelter with possible entrapment.

The scene involved a van which went into the ditch and sustained front-end damage, while a small truck was found upside down near an electricity pole. Debris could be seen on the ground near the truck.

The Fillmore Community Volunteer Fire Department dispatched a rescue truck, while the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Operation Life and STAR Ambulance were also on the scene.

The Indiana State Police were directing traffic around the crash site as of 2:20 p.m.
