Willard N. Scobee

Willard N. Scobee, 96, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Asbury Towers.

Willard was born in Greencastle on Jan. 23, 1923, the son of Russel L. and Elva (Price) Scobee.

He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Mr. Scobee worked in various departments with IBM until his retirement after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Clinton Falls Community Church, a previous member of Bainbridge Christian Church, and Somerset Christian Church. Mr. Scobee was also a former member of the American Legion in Greencastle. Willard had a great love for the Lord. He enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sally Coffman (husband C. Earl Jr.) of Bainbridge and Bonnie Roberts of Greencastle; a grandson, Christopher Coffman (wife Becky) of Zionsville; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Benny and Beau; a sister-in-law, Raquel “Rakie” Hueber of Pittsboro; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Marjorie “Jean” Scobee; two brothers, William “Bill” Scobee and Edward Scobee; a son-in-law, Willis “Willie” Roberts; and a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Coffman.

Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Blaydes officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
