The appointment of Brenda Heacock as a deputy grand regent of the Women of the Moose was received last July at the 2019 International Moose Convention in Las Vegas.

One deputy grand regent is appointed per state or province.

Heacock has been active in the Women of the Moose since 2009, and has held various offices through the local chapter. She has also worked on the state charities board. Heacock assists the chapter analyst coordinator in working with troubled chapters in Indiana, and currently serves as bingo chairman and serves as a caller at the local Moose lodge.

Heacock was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Heacock retired from the Putnam County Hospital as an administrative assistant in 2006 after 35 years of service. Following her retirement, she began to give back to the hospital by volunteering with the Putnam County Hospital Guild. She works in the gift shop, serves on the guild’s administrative board and computes all volunteer hours and provides them to the Western Indiana Community Action Agency (WICCA). She is set to serve as the guild’s president from 2020 to 2021.

Heacock is also a member of the Putnam County Extension Homemakers and currently serves as the co-president of the Past County Presidents Club. She has served as the event coordinator for the Homemakers’ annual arts and crafts fair.

Heacock is also currently the secretary for Clinton Falls Community Church in Greencastle.

A public reception in honor of Heacock will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Greencastle Moose Lodge 1592, with lunch from 1 to 3 p.m.

Interested persons may contact either Barbara Rader at 765-247-8550 or the Women of the Moose at 653-2890 for more information about the reception.
