Edgewood (2-1) at No. 17 South Putnam (2-0)

The coaches: Gary Sims is in his 12th year at Edgewood. Brian Gardner is in his fifth year at South Putnam.

So far: Edgewood beat West Vigo 50-16 and Greencastle 56-31 before losing 70-22 to Bloomington South. South Putnam beat South Vermillion 61-38 and Cloverdale 54-39.

Per-game averages: Offense — Edgewood 42.7, South 57.5. Defense — 39.0, South 38.5.

History: Edgewood won 46-37 last year in Ellettsville and leads the series 12-5 over the past 15 years.

John Harrell prediction: South Putnam, 48-41.

Greencastle (0-2) at No. 1 Benton Central (2-0)

The coaches: Kellie Kirkhoff is in her first year at Greencastle. David Baxter is in his 10th year at Benton Central.

So far: Greencastle lost 56-31 to Edgewood and 48-31 to Owen Valley. Benton Central defeated Kankakee Valley 66-34 and Lake Central 60-39.

Per-game averages: Offense — Greencastle 31.0, BC 63.0. Defense — 52.0, BC 36.5.

History: Benton Central has won all three meetings over the past 15 years, and won 57-43 in the first round of the sectional last year.

John Harrell prediction: Benton Central, 58-33.

Shakamak (0-2) at No. 12 Cloverdale (2-1)

The coaches: Chase Rhoten is in his first year at Shakamak. Matthew Langdon is in his ninth year at Cloverdale.

So far: Shakamak has lost 45-36 to West Vigo and 72-36 to Northview. Cloverdale beat Riverton Parke 68-35, lost 54-39 o South Putnam and beat Clay City 50-35.

Per-game averages: Offense — Shakamak , Clovers 52.3. Defense — Shakamak , Clovers 41.3.

History: Cloverdale won 77-37 in Jasonville last year and leads the series 8-7 over the past 15 years.

John Harrell prediction: Cloverdale, 56-32.
