Delores ‘Dee’ Ernestine Simmons

Delores “Dee” Ernestine Simmons, 81, of Hampstead, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. She passed in peace, surrounded by family.

Dee was born on March 5, 1938, in Somerset, Ky., to the late Ernest and Violet (Measel) Price.

After her family moved to Indiana, she attended school at Cloverdale and married and raised her family there.

Dee is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Irvin James Simmons, brother Donald (Joyce) Price of Gainesville, Fla., and her two sisters, Margie (Don) Larkin of Cloverdale and Pamela Kremm of Cincinnati.

In addition to her husband and three siblings, Dee is survived by her two daughters, Cathy (Mike) Arnold of Cloverdale and Kristi (Drew) Robison of Durham, N.C., as well as her three granddaughters, Megan Arnold, Katie Arnold and Mackenzie Robison.

Before retiring to the North Carolina coast with her husband, Dee was a savvy real estate agent in Gainesville, Fla. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, attending church, traveling and cheering on the Florida Gators.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at Scott’s Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at noon at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial and the family’s private ceremony will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missions of Scott’s Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scotts Hill Loop Rd., Wilmington, NC 28411.
