Mark Allen Cassida, 69, of Quincy, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 17, 1950 in Putnam County to Wilbur Woodrow Cassida and Melva Pauline (Dyar) Cassida.

Mark was a 1968 graduate of Cloverdale High School and attended ISU until 1970.

Mark married Nancy Plew on Jan. 3, 1975 and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Glenn Cassida, who served in the United States Air Force for 24 years; a daughter, Deanna (Johnny) Young; two grandchildren, Kendra and Dalton Young; a brother, Max (Kelly) Cassida; a brother-in-law, Bill (Phyllis) Plew; nephews Mark (Aubrey) Middleton, Adam Plew, Bart (Amy) Cassida, Kevin Cassida, Keith (Stormy) Cassida and Kraig Cassida; and two uncles, Dick Dyar of Spencer and Red Smith of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Jesse and Nellie Cassida and Joseph and Grace Dyar.

Mark worked for CCRTC from the fall of 1974 as lineman utility foreman before becoming facility engineer until his retirement from Endeavor in 2006. He also worked for the Town of Cloverdale as building inspector from November 1993 until his retirement in August 2017.

He also served on the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department from 1975 to 2005, wearing many different hats. He served as a reserve deputy sheriff in Putnam County, under the late Sheriff Jim Baugh. Mark also served on the Cloverdale Town Council for several terms.

He became a Master Mason of the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge #132 F&AM in September 1993 and served as Worshipful Master in 1996 and 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Mannan Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Mark will be honored with a Masonic lodge and fire department services.
