County Jail

Eighteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:43 a.m. Sirena Y. Stowe, 35, Poland, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

Sunday

• At 4:35 p.m. Michael A. Johnson, 40, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license.

• At 4:30 p.m. Scott A. Ezman, 46, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for driving with a suspended license and on a local warrant.

• At 4:29 a.m. Andrew D. Dunn, 22, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 12:01 a.m. Derrick Michael Thompson, 28, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and on an out-of-county warrant

Saturday

• At 7:23 p.m. Shane Michael Ronan, 33, Greencastle, was taken into custody for theft.

• At 10:09 a.m. Robert L. Grant Jr., 53, Brazil, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:14 a.m. Donna Lynn Beard, 54, Rockville, was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

Friday

• At 6:42 a.m. Brittney A. Thacker, 34, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail for possession of a syringe and on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 4:43 p.m. Miranda Jo McNew, 31, Stilesville, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license.

• At 4:50 p.m. Aron J. Monnett, 35, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, possession of a handgun, possession of methamphetamine, possession of precursors, possession of marijuana and driving with a Schedule I or II substance in the body.

• At 3:43 p.m. Alexander F. Jordan, 20, Poland, was booked in for theft.

Wednesday

• At 11:18 p.m. Aaron R. Priest, 44, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 7:17 p.m. Matthew S. Cliburn, 25, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 6:29 p.m. Antoine D. Christle, 19, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for possessing a handgun without a permit.

• At 5:53 p.m. Donald L. Roberson, 23, Indianapolis, was booked in for possessing a handgun without a permit, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.

• At 5:43 p.m. Nikki M. Haraway, 29, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana and on two out-of-county warrants.

• At 12:46 p.m. April N. Sult, 34, Paragon, Ill., was taken into custody on a Morgan County warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:28 a.m. on Friday, Zoe M. Weltz, 16, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 75 South in a 2007 Saturn Aura.

Weltz told Deputy Randy Patrick she traveled off the roadway due to low light and road conditions.

The car was towed. Patrick estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 1:23 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, David R. Dean, 59, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 25 North in a 2004 Dodge Ram. Jimmie R. Heller, 70, Greencastle, was southbound in a 2007 Toyota Tundra.

Deputy Brian Helmer explained that the two vehicles met in a spot where a tree makes the gravel road really narrow. As they met, their mirrors collided, destroying both mirrors.

Dean had some glass in his face but denied medical attention.

Helmer estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 2:15 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 110 N. Central St. for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived at 2:21 and were advised that the homeowner was putting out a fire with a garden hose. It was believed the fire may have started under a table on the front porch, then traveled up siding on the house. The Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the incident. The home was ventilated, and no extensive damage was found inside. GFD went back into service at 2:51 p.m.

• At 3:15 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:17 but could not find any cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 3:30 p.m.

• At 1:31 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was alerted by the Greencastle Police Department of a tree in the roadway at the intersection of Houck Road and Eagle Court. Units found the tree at 1:41, cut it up and removed it. GFD went back into service at 1:46 p.m.

• At 3:04 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was alerted to a possible gas leak at Taco Bell. Units arrived at 3:09 and monitored the restaurant, but could not locate any leak. GFD advised that maintenance be notified, and GFD went back into service at 3:18 p.m.

• At 10:38 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 474 Glenview Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:43 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:46 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed six medical assists during this time and had one run in which no incident was found.
