Max Ralph Clodfelter

Max Ralph Clodfelter, 91, passed away at the Putnam County Hospital Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 2019 surrounded by family.

He was the oldest son of Ralph and Ruth (Overpeck) Clodfelter, born Aug. 30, 1928 in Portland Mills.

He was a 1947 graduate of Bainbridge High School, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greencastle.

He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Marie Shoemaker, on Oct. 24, 1947, and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage together.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Bainbridge area, until he retired in 1989.

He loved to spend time with his wife and family and in Florida during the winters, playing shuffleboard and visiting with friends from all over North America. He also enjoyed traveling with the national Avion travel trailer club across North America on many trips to various places, including Alaska and Nova Scotia.

He is survived by his wife Alice; his son Philip (Darla) Clodfelter; daughter-in-law Maria Dean Clodfelter; sister Ardell Pingleton; six grandchildren, Aaron (Martha Louk) Clodfelter, Christy (Darren) Collier, Jeremy (Kebra Watts) Clodfelter, Brandi Clodfelter, Jason (Carole) Clodfelter and Jodi (Josh) Willhite; 12 great-grandchildren Jessica (Chad) Benge, Josie (Joey Sherfick) Purdue, Trey (Jordan Hukill) Clodfelter, MaKenley Broyles, Zach Clodfelter, Brice Williams, Braiden Malicoat, Brailyn Underwood, Chad Willhite, Andrew Willhite, Allison Clodfelter and Lauren Clodfelter; and five great-great-grandchildren, Emma Scott, Macy Scott, Kinleigh Purdue, Koy Purdue and Kaiya Purdue-Sherfick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Max, daughter-in-law Lynda Whitehead Clodfelter, brother Allen and sister-in-law Cosy and brother-in-law Bob Pingleton.

Funeral services will be at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 N. Percy Julian Dr., Greencastle, on Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m. with the Pastor Paul Wiseheart officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Bainbridge Cemetery.
