Giving Tree looking for last-minute help

Monday, December 9, 2019

With only days until distribution of gifts, the Putnam County Giving Tree effort is still in need of some big help.

The trees at Kroger and Gordman’s in Greencastle still have more than 200 tags in need of sponsors.

Tags may be picked up at either store. Additionally, any organization, business or individual wishing to sponsor one or more of these kids is encouraged to call 301-6170 or 720-1739. Anyone unable to do the shopping but wanting to make a contribution may send it to P.O. Box 251, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Once the item(s) on the tag are purchased, attach the tag and take it back to the location from which it was picked up originally.

All items need to be returned by Monday, Dec. 16 for timely distribution.

  • How much of this problem is related to Walmart removing the giving tree from their store a few years ago? Seems wrong that most of the items will be purchased from Walmart but they don’t want to participate in the program.
