Four vehicles were towed, but just one person needed minor medical attention following a six-car collision south of Greencastle Friday afternoon.

At 3:39 p.m., traffic was heavy on southbound U.S. 231 as a vehicle slowed to make a left turn in the area of Crestview Drive.

The front two vehicles, a 2011 Ford F-150 driven by Jade A. Pastore, 44, Greencastle, and a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Paul J. Johnson, 35, Gosport, crossed the fog line to pass the turning vehicle but quickly had to stop because of further traffic volume ahead of them.

While Pastore and Johnson were able to stop, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Vince C. Boone, 57, Crawfordsville, could not get stopped. Boone’s truck hit the back of Johnson’s, pushing it into Pastore’s.

Likewise, Kayln R. Griffin, 27, Fairland, driving a 2015 Volkswagen Golf, could not stop, hitting the back of Boone’s truck. A 2008 GMC Yukon, driven by Austin C. Cron, 19, Newburgh, then struck the back of Griffin’s car.

Finally, Shannon M. Ivers, 55, Greencastle, driving a 2004 Ford F-150, could not stop and hit the back of Cron’s vehicle.

Ivers was treated at the scene by Operation Life but signed a statement of release. No other drivers required attention.

The vehicles driven by Ivers, Cron, Griffin and Boone were all towed.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damages at $50,000-$100,000.

The Greencastle Fire Department was also on the scene to help clean up the incident.
