That margin reached a high of 45 late in the third at 73-28, and the Tigers sailed to victory from there.

Sydney Kopp led the Tigers with 22 points and moved into fourth place on DePauw’s all-time scoring list with 1,397 as she passed Carla Weaver’s (1988-92) total of 1,381.

In men’s action:

• No. 24 Wooster 70, DePauw 68 — The Tigers fell to the Fighting Scots in a tightly-contested conference matchup.

Returning home after three big wins the Tigers opened the game with back-to-back layups by Nolan Ginther and a deep three by Luke Steinhart to take an emphatic 7-2 lead.

Holding the lead for the majority of the first half, DePauw played tough defense and forced Wooster to commit five turnovers, resulting in 10 points off of fast breaks.

Stretching their lead to as much as seven in the first half, the Tigers found most of its success against the Fighting Scots’ zone defense in the paint by putting up 20 points, eight of which were second-chance points.

Despite shutting down Wooster behind the arc and going 5-of-11 itself, DePauw struggled to string together multiple stops midway through the half, allowing the Fighting Scots to pull ahead 26-25 and finish out the half with a 15-point run to go into halftime up 41-39

Returning to the court with the same intensity as the first half, the Tigers’ defensive efforts forced early turnovers and locked down Wooster’s shooting efforts, allowing DePauw to reclaim the lead.

Though the Tigers were ahead for more than 12 minutes of the second half, the Fighting Scots gradually chipped away at DePauw’s lead.

With just three minutes left in the game, Wooster’s top scorer — Danyon Hempy — played both ends of the court with composure, putting in four of the final six points to win the game.

DePauw held Wooster to a total of five made three-pointers, 70 total points and 42 percent from the field in the second half.

DePauw fell to 6-8 for the year and returns to Neal Fieldhouse on Wednesday to play Denison at 6 p.m. prior to the women’s basketball game.
