Cloverdale police to host citizen’s academy Jan. 25

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Police Department invites community members to learn more about law enforcement, as well as their rights as citizens, through its upcoming Citizen’s Force program.

The goal of the program is to raise awareness of citizens’ rights as delineated in both the U.S. Constitution and the Indiana Constitution, as well as the role of police in keeping the community safe. It also focuses on the importance of civic engagement.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Participants will receive eight hours of instruction, as well as the opportunity to participate in a shoot/don’t shoot simulation. They will also receive a T-shirt, a pocket U.S. Constitution, a certificate and information on additional resources.

The fee is $75 each. Twenty-five seats are available for each class.

The program will be held at WPW Firearms, 505 N. Main St., Cloverdale.
