Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 6:39 p.m. on Friday, Sheila M. Langdon, 71, Reelsville, was westbound on County Road 725 South in a 2014 Toyota Camry when a deer ran into her path.

She tried to miss the animal and lost control on loose gravel on the road. She left the road and hit a tree with the driver side front bumper and tire area.

Langdon is a volunteer firefighter with the Reelsville Fire Department and was en route to another property-damage crash when the incident occurred.

Langdon was checked out by Putnam County EMS and signed a statement of release.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At around 1:10 a.m. on Friday, H.T. Tomlinson, 41, Fillmore, was eastbound on County Road 50 North in a 2007 Toyota Scion.

Tomlinson told Deputy Nate Trissel he was heading home from his second job when he dozed off and his car slipped off the road. He woke up and tried to correct the vehicle, overcorrecting and hitting a telephone pole.

Tomlinson was cited for driving without a license.

Tomlinson’s car was towed. Trissel estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:58 p.m. on Thursday, Deputy Trissel was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident at the entrance to the DePauw Nature Park.

Upon his arrival, Trissel observed that a 2003 Saturn Ion had driven off the roadway and hit some landscaping rocks.

When Officer Steve Smith of the DePauw University Police had arrived earlier, the driver fled the scene.

The vehicle was towed. Trissel estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

Webster told Soilleux he was slowing to turn north onto County Road 800 West when he was rear-ended.

A witness who was traveling the westbound lanes told Soilleux he saw Webster approaching the intersection and his turn signal was on.

Heilers was cited for failure to yield.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and were towed.
