Gladys M. Fitzsimmons

Gladys M. Fitzsimmons, 89, of Roachdale, went to her Heavenly home Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020.

She was born on March 17, 1930 in Roachdale to the late Claude and Vernie (Wall) Riddle.

On April 30, 1948 in New Winchester, she married Eugene “Mike” Fitzsimmons. He passed away in May 2014.

Gladys graduated from New Winchester High School.

She was a homemaker, taking care and raising her family. Her No. 1 joy in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, watching birds, nature in general, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by so many.

She is survived by her children, Becky (Larry) Nichols, Fort Wayne, Joyce (Will) Northcutt, Pittsboro, Rodney (Cathy) Fitzsimmons, Danville, Gary (Rebecca) Fitzsimmons, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers; Berlie Riddle, Brownsburg, Loren “Bud” (Hazel) Riddle, Maplewood, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Kent; daughter Cathy; two grandsons, Jeremy Jamison and Blake Jamison; three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Roachdale Baptist Church, 10 N. Lanoke St,. Roachdale, with Pastor Steve Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from noon until time of service at the church.
