Bernice E. Lucas

Bernice E. Lucas, 83, of Cloverdale passed away Monday Jan. 27, 2020.

She was born Aug. 3, 1936 in Watertown, S.D., to the late Edward and Bertha (Dozler) Lausen.

Bernice married James A. Lucas, and he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1967.

Bernice was an Army veteran and had worked at Cloverdale Schools for many years.

She is survived by her children, Richard Lee Lucas and his wife Kelly, and Bryant Scott Lucas and his wife AmyMarie; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings Donald Lausen, Delores Farmer, Beverly Komis, Vivian Thompson and Ronald Lausen.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Edward J. Lucas, and sister Darlene Yagie.

Funeral services for Bernice will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Private burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Spencer.
