Greencastle Officers worked throughout the night securing the scene, applying for search warrants.

Berry Street between Locust and College will be closed for the next 3-4 hours while Indiana State Police crime technicians and Putnam County Coroner Dave Brown process the scene.

"We are investigating it as suspicious death," Brown told the Banner Graphic. "That's all we can say at this time, except that the family has been notified."

Brown later said an autopsy had been scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out the family and friends of Melissa Attkisson," a Greencastle Police Department representative wrote in a statement.

Detective Huffman will work with Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter and other agencies to find the person responsible.
