County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 6:10 a.m. Timothy J. Conover, 28, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for theft.

• At 6:04 a.m. Tyra S. Binder, 22, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for intimidation, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Sunday

• At 5:13 p.m. Robert L. Speck Jr., 29, Brazil, was housed at the jail for disorderly conduct and refusal to identify self.

• At 12:04 p.m. Joshua D. Hickman, 32, Indianapolis, was booked in for criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, false informing and disorderly conduct.

Saturday

• At 1:59 p.m. Ellen L. Stoelting, 33, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery and criminal recklessness.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 12 recent dispatches:

• At 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 2725 E. State Rd. 240 for a possible small fire. Firefighters arrived at 10:49 but were unable to locate any fire. GFD went back into service at 11:01 p.m.

• At 2:10 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with minor injuries at 1193 W. CR 125 South. Units arrived on the scene at 2:25 p.m. and cleaned fluid and debris from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 2:45 p.m.

• At 6:53 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to American Legion Post 58 for a hot smell. Firefighters arrived at 6:58 and found a faulty detector head, but not source of a fire. GFD advised that maintenance be contacted, and went back into service at 7:07 p.m.

• At 9:15 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Pi Beta Phi for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at approximately 9:16 and found a faulty detector head. GFD went back into service at 9:38 p.m.

• At 1:31 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:37 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:40 a.m.

• At 2:01 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Alpha Tau Omega for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:06 to find that a fire extinguisher had been activated. GFD reset the alarm, and left at 2:13 a.m.

• At 3:52 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched again to 412 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at approximately 3:53 and found a dirty detector head. The detector head was cleaned, and the alarm was reset. GFD left at 4:06 a.m.

• At 10:57 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 303 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:58 and determined the alarm was due to perfume. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:05 a.m.

• At 1:52 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at 908 S. Jackson St. Units arrived on the scene at 1:53 and assisted with patient care. GFD went back into service at 2:07 p.m.

• At 7:31 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched again to Alpha Tau Omega for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:34 but could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 7:41 p.m.

• At 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:24 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 8:30 p.m.

• At 1:44 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 503 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:47 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:52 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed four recent medical assists.
