County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 6:08 p.m. Geoffrey W. McClellan, 35, Brazil, was booked in on writ.

• At 4:21 p.m. Candice Jo Lumpkin, 38, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail on a writ of body attachment.

• At 11:40 a.m. Michaella D. Woodard, 38, Hickory Ridge, Ark., was housed at the jail for theft and false informing.

• At 10:40 a.m. Bradley R. Moy, 48, Quincy, was booked in for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 9:59 a.m. Blake M. Hopper, 36, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail for theft.

Tuesday

• At 4:10 p.m. Rebecca S. Bruner, 40, Brazil, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 3:44 p.m. Dennis L. Kent, 43, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 2:45 p.m. Jason R. Brunes, 44, Franklin, was booked in for failure to appear.

City Police

One arrest and four traffic citations were reported recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:13 a.m. Thursday, Charles Burdine, 51, Indianapolis, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Acting on the report of a suspicious vehicle, Officer Brown stopped Burdine on Fillmore Road.

Burdine was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and possession of marijuana.

He was also cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Three additional citations were issued by city officers.

• At 9:44 p.m. Sunday, Chere Phillips, 70, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer Brown.

She was stopped on Avenue B and given a warning ticket for disregarding a stopsign but was cited for having no valid driver’s license.

• At 4:55 p.m. Sunday, Jeffrey Crockett Jr., 40, Greencastle, was issued a pair of citations by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road near Calbert Way, Crockett was ticketed for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and for having a false or fictitious registration.

Indiana State Police

State troopers from the Putnamville Post made one recent arrest in Putnam County.

• On Wednesday afternoon, Tooper Ian Portteus stopped a Bainbridge man at U.S. 40 and County Road 500 East for a traffic violation.

Further investigation by his K9 partner Czar indicated illegal activity.

A search of the vehicle indicated that the driver, 38-year-old Jonathan E. Hyde, was in possession of methamphetamine.

Hyde was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 4:09 p.m.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:08 a.m. Thursday, Jeffery B. Hagler, 34, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 775 East, approaching a 90-degree corner at County Road 250 North in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Deputy Brian Helmer reported that freezing rain had saturated the road with ice.

Hagler failed to make the corner due to ice and left the road, going into the ditch on the south side.

He told Helmer he was not going fast, but the ice caused him to lose control.

The vehicle was towed. Helmer estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Kerrigan M. Feider, 21, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 325 West, approaching the T intersection at County Road 350 North in a 2008 Ford Fusion.

Feider told Deputy Helmer she could not stop on the ice-covered roadway, sliding through the intersection and entering the ditch on the south side of the road.

Helmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two recent dispatches:

• At 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 2898 S. CR 650 East near Fillmore for a possible chimney fire. Firefighters arrived at 2:20 and inspected the chimney, but found no source of a fire. GFD went back into service at 3:02 p.m.

• At 6:16 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 418 Anderson St. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:18 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:22 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed one medical assist prior to these dispatches.
