I Saw the Sign

Thursday, March 5, 2020
Thanks to a partnership between the Heritage Preservation Society of Putnam County and the City of Greencastle, with additional funding provided by the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau, four local neighborhoods that are nationally recognized are receiving official designation of their status. The Northwood, Eastern Enlargement, Old Greencastle and Courthouse Square areas will now have street signs on intersections within the boundaries drawn by the National Register of Historic Places. Adam Jones (pictured) and Ron Eubank of the Department of Public Works began placing the signs Tuesday. They expect to be done in the next few weeks. The initiative was announced at the HPS annual meeting in 2019 and is becoming a reality a year later.

  • Platted in 1920, that is nice. I live in the Sherwood area and I have my homes original deed and abstract with the first entry being 1826. It provides some interesting info on the north side of Greencastle.
