Musical to accompany Russellville Soup and Sandwich Dinner Saturday

RUSSELLVILLE -- The Russellville Community Center and Preston Dildine are teaming up once again to bring another fun-filled story to stage on Saturday, March 14.

We all know the story of Hansel and Gretel. But did it really end the way we were told it did?

“Fractured! An ‘80s Fairy Tale Musical” is the story of Zach, an orphan boy who loses his brother, only to find him trapped in the pages of a magical story book. A stranger calling herself Mother Goose convinces him to travel into the book himself to save his brother, as well as the other children taken by the Gingerbread Witch. In order to take on the Witch and her henchman, Wolf, Zach teams up with Hansel, the Mad Hatter, and Red Riding Hood, and a hilarious and magical adventure ensues with the help of an ‘80s jukebox score, including songs like “I Ran (So Far Away)”, “Jump (For My Love)”, “Heartache” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Starring a cast of Montgomery County favorites, the group includes Terran McCarty as Zach, Kelli Brewer as Mother Goose, Preston Dildine as Hansel, Lora Burris as the Gingerbread Witch, Mahlon Nevitt as the Mad Hatter, Julie Simpkins as Red Riding Hood and Dalton Shute as Wolf.

The children’s chorus includes Jordan French (Alice), Brayden Stedge (Brandon), Lyric Denman (Gretel) and Adalynn Burris (Young Hansel/Goldielocks).

This show accompanies the Community Center’s annual Soup and Sandwich Dinner, which includes a variety of soups, chicken salad and ham salad sandwiches, a relish tray, and various desserts.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the meal beginning at 5:30 and the show starting at 7 p.m. There will also be a raffle drawing at intermission to win posters signed by the cast. Proceeds go to the building repair funds.

Tickets for the dinner and show are $12 per person, and can be purchased at the door. There will be no assigned seating, but reservations are asked for so that the center has a head count prior to the event. To reserve tickets, call (765) 314-2651 or email prestondildine@yahoo.com.
