County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

• At 3:54 p.m. Jessica A. (Bushong) Kenworthy, 35, Fillmore, was housed at the jail for unlawful possession of a syringe, carrying a handgun without a license, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 3:01 p.m. Jared L. Hornaday, 30, Fillmore, was booked in for carrying a handgun as a felon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Joshua D. Hickman, 32, Coatesville, was traveling southeast on Heritage Drive between emergency exits 29 and 30 in a 2008 Dodge Avenger.

Hickman was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and started to fishtail. The car slid approximately 75 yards before hitting a guardrail.

Hickman told Deputy Brian Helmer he swerved to avoid a squirrel and lost control. Helmer asked how fast Hickman was going and he said he was not sure, estimating it was between 50 and 60 mph. The speed limit in the area is 30 mph.

Hickman was issued a summons to appear in court for driving while suspended with a prior offense.

The vehicle was towed. Helmer estimated damage $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

• At 9:52 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:54 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:10 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed one medical assist after this dispatch.
