Purdue Club cancels annual golf outing

Monday, June 8, 2020

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s Purdue Club of Putnam County golf outing at Tiger Pointe has been canceled.

The golf outng was scheduled for Wednesday, June 24. The cancellation is not only due to the safety of everyone’s health, but also because of the economic hardships being experienced by individuals and businesses.

The Purdue Club would like to thank all of our past hole and prize sponsors, participants, and anyone who has supported our efforts to raise money to award scholarships to students going to Purdue University.

Over the past 21 years, 57 scholarships have been awarded for a total of $37,600. Last year, four scholarships were awarded for a total of $4,000.

Next year’s golf outing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 23 at Tiger Pointe, formerly Windy Hill Country Club.

In the meantime, Purdue scholarships will still be awarded this summer. Anyone wanting to contribute to the Purdue Club of Putnam County Scholarship Fund can do so by sendinga donation to the Putnam County Community Foundation at 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, IN 46135. Persons are asked to make a notation “Purdue Club Scholarship Fund” on their check.
