Ruby Helen Black

Ruby Helen Black, 90, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at Cumberland Trace in Plainfield.

Ruby was born in Greencastle on March 21, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (St. Clair) Saathoff.

She was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mrs. Black owned a seamstress business for more than 30 years, specializing in bridal gowns.

Survivors include a son, Braxton Black (wife Sara) of Plainfield; a daughter, Cinda Black of Indianapolis; a sister, Betty Stewart of South Carolina; a brother, Chuck Saathoff (wife Mary Ann) of Florida; two grandchildren, James Black of Indianapolis and David Black-Disalvo (wife Abby) of Westfield; a life-long friend, Patsy Bundy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, James Black; a brother, Russell Saathoff; and a sister, Amy Insley.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
