Courthouse access to return to normal next week

Monday, June 15, 2020

Having already announced Putnam County offices are set to fully reopen on Monday, June 22, the county commissioners have made more clear what that means.

When it opens for business at 8 a.m. next Monday, the Putnam County Courthouse will be back to normal procedures that were in place before COVID-19 forced the commissioners to restrict access in mid-March.

This includes normal hours for the Courthouse and its offices -- 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

It also includes no restrictions on entry, with first floor entrances reopened on all four sides of the Courthouse and no screening upon entry.

The plan was unanimously approved Monday by commissioners David Berry, Rick Woodall and Don Walton.

The Courthouse was completely closed, except for certain offices for several hours on Fridays.

Restrictions had been eased over time, with more offices opening by appointment as well as opening for one week of early voting prior to the June primary election.

However, this will mark the first time the offices will be fully reopened since March.
