MaryAnn (Zimmerman) York

MaryAnn (Zimmerman) York, 87, of Roachdale, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1932 to the late Earl and Esther “Bill” (Cline) Zimmerman.

MaryAnn graduated from Bainbridge High School with the class of 1950 and then attended college.

In 1963, she married Aaron “LeRoy” York in Greencastle. He preceded her in death.

She was a qualified medical aide (QMA) and worked at several assisted living facilities throughout the years.

MaryAnn was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Larry) Grissom of Waco, Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Nancy (John) Walenton of Charlottesville, N.C.; daughter-in-law Tammy (Pettit) Morlan of Roachdale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children Kenneth Morlan, Kathie Morlan, Garry Morlan, and Michael Morlan; and six siblings, James Zimmerman, Gene Zimmerman, Richard Zimmerman, Glen Zimmerman, George “Pete” Zimmerman and Evelyn Nave.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29 at Roachdale Cemetery with Chaplain Lucreta Thompson officiating.
