Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

• At 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Daniel W. Fritzen, 19, Crawfordsville, was westbound on County Road 1400 North approaching a 90-degree turn at which the road becomes Montgomery County Road 475 West, driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Fritzen told Deputy Robert Soilleux he was looking down at his phone and didn’t see the corner, resulting in him driving straight off the road and approximately 200 yards into a muddy soybean field.

Fritzen said he was not injured and refused medical aid. However, he tested at .08 on the portable breath test.

At 6:12 a.m., he was booked in the Putnam County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:04 p.m. on Saturday, Olivia A. Harlow, 20, Avon, was eastbound on U.S. 36 when she lost control of her 2009 Dodge Caliber.

Harlow told Deputy Soilleux she was going about 60 mph when she began to fishtail and then spun out of control. The passenger side of the vehicle slammed into a cement guardrail, heaving damaging the passenger side.

Harlow was not injured.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
