County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 3:56 p.m. Fred L. Vittatoe, 49, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and driving a commercial motor vehicle without a valid CDL.

• At 2:58 p.m. Samuel A. Robertson, 40, Spencer, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

• At 2:10 p.m. Deidre M. Gegner, 36, Crawfordsville, was booked in for invasion of privacy.

• At 10:56 a.m. Zyan S. Cox, 24, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for petition to revoke probation.

• At 3:33 a.m. Stacey L. Buchanan, 49, Roachdale, was booked in for driving with a Schedule I or II substance in the body, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:25 a.m. Zachary L. Benassi, 27, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for possession of a synthetic drug or lookalike substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

Monday

• At 8:56 p.m. Kenneth A. Perryman, 49, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for auto theft, false informing and on a Morgan County warrant.

• At 2:34 p.m. Joseph N. Bailey, 34, Greencastle, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

City Police

One theft arrest was reported in recent activity of Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 8:09 p.m. Tuesday, Douglas Coppock, 38, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine at the Greencastle Walmart store.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Coppock is charged with theft and criminal conversion.

He was also arrested on a Vigo County warrant for conversion and a Hendricks County warrant for possession of a narcotic drug.

Authorities said Coppock reportedly took old receipts into the store with him, then removed from the shelves the same items previously purchased and attempted to return them, asking that the money be put on his credit card.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

• At 11:22 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Opportunity Housing for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:28 and determined the alarm was due to smoke from a candle. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:43 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed four medical assists.
