Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

• At 11:36 a.m. Bianca P. Ooley, 31, Bloomington, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2016 Kia Sorrento.

Ooley told Deputy Brian Helmer there was a vehicle in front of her that kept brake checking her. She said the final time the other driver did it, she left the roadway, running into the ditch and overturning, knocking down a fence.

She told Helmer the suspect stopped after the crash but then took off again. Ooley could only advise the other vehicle was blue.

The vehicle was towed. Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 7:33 a.m. on Wednesday, Tanner J. Bridge, 18, Phillips, Wis., was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching U.S. 36 on a 2004 Honda VTX1300 motorcycle. It had been raining.

Bridge told Deputy Helmer the light at U.S. 36 turned yellow and he braked but could not stop on the wet pavement. Bridge put the bike sideways before colliding with a car going through the intersection.

William H. Bolton, 84, Indianapolis, was eastbound on 36 approaching the intersection. As Bolton entered the intersection, he saw the motorcycle and tried to brake but was unable to avoid the collision.

Both vehicles were driven from the scene and neither driver was injured.

Helmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
